Council President Ken Charles is proud to announce the selection of Jonathan Platt as the new District Director in the Atakwa District.  Jonathan begins his duties and responsibilities on August 1, 2009.  In addition to serving the Atakwa District, he will also give greater leadership to the other members of the professional Staff.

Jonathan an Eagle Scout, originally from Grundy, Virginia, a small town in Southwest Virginia, worked his way through college by working in various Jobs on campus.    Jonathan graduated in 1997 with a B.S. in Business Administration. 

 Jonathan began his professional Scouting career in the Breaks District of the Sequoyah Council; headquarter in Johnson City, Tennessee.  After his first assignment, he was promoted to Senior District Executive and served two more years in the Breaks District before moving on to the Pellissippi District in March of 2003, a much larger District.  During his eleven years with the Sequoyah Council, Jonathan has held major positions of Council responsibility; among them are Camp Director, Camp Business Manager, Council Popcorn Advisor, Mock Trial Coordinator, and Chairman of the Council Innovations & Technology Committee.

 Jonathan is married to Molly Wiggins Platt, who is originally from Palmer Alaska.  They met while in College at Berea.  They have two sons, Ethan, a second grader, and Eli, who will be starting kindergarten this fall.  The Platt’s are very active in their church, and looking forward to finding their new Church home here.   Jonathan is also active in his community, serving as a board member for the Kiwanis Club, as well as past Club President of the Grundy Rotary Club.
